Short Tales Press combines creativity and literacy research to provide high quality early leveled books for the emergent reader. Every aspect of our books has been carefully and educationally crafted; the size, the layout, the text and the topics are perfect for guided reading instruction, Reading Recovery, academic intervention or “at risk” readers. The positive reading experience will stimulate the emergent reader to embrace the reading habit.
MaryAnn McAlpin is an experienced educator who has taught in urban and suburban settings for more than 15 years. MaryAnn worked as a classroom teacher, a reading/intervention specialist and a Reading Recovery teacher. She has provided teacher training at national and regional literacy conferences and trained teachers in the greater Rochester, NY area. MaryAnn has served on many literacy committees and remains very connected to furthering literacy awareness among teachers, parents and the general public. She is passionate about teaching young children to read and write.
